He had a particular passion for dungarees but much to his dismay they were nowhere to be found in his store. You might ask why dungarees? You either love them or hate them. He happened to like them because of their working class origins.

 

So after much deliberation he decided to go it alone focusing purely on dungarees. Working from home, the attic became the warehouse and his wife became the fulfilment department. That was 2010; he’s moved to bigger premises now and that’s been a function of a growing business and a need for more space.

 

He has a simple philosophy ‘everything you do as a business affects the way customers see you’. The key points are his product and his people. After all he’s a bib and braces company and remains true to its roots. His approach to the product is simple. He sources the best materials he can find and stays firmly committed to his vision ‘To become the world’s leading destination for bib and brace clothing’.

 

When it comes to his people he often gets asked about brand training and how his staff are able to live the brand so effectively. It’s simple, he doesn’t do any. The truth is he recruits the right people and then looks after them.
