The phrase ‘A nice company to work with and work for’ had become Jonathan’s personal mantra which he hoped to use when developing the business. It seemed logical to him that both had to be true if the business was to maintain and transmit a genuine positive attitude.

 

He came to us with a unique business idea, in fact something which could potentially revolutionise the brewing industry. It would run in parallel with his traditional brand but be completely autonomous. It would have no geographical boundary; in fact its location would be technically irrelevant. Its guiding principles would be to openly share all aspects of brewing methods, recipes and ingredients and force innovation by remaining at the cutting edge of the market – ‘Open Source Brewing’.

 

It would encourage brewers to copy him but by which time he would have moved on to the next product. Together with Jonathan we conducted a series of workshops to identify a core proposition for the brand. The outward facing parts of the brand would be openness, honesty, inclusivity (social media) and anti-establishment. The main aim of the project was to develop a two way street between it and the market via social media and the internet.
