Yorkshire Honey

As a beekeeper, life for Marcus Cordingley is all about hard work. He starts with an unusually good product and a set of values. His main products are Heather Honey, a well rounded honey which is a great source of natural energy and Blossom Honey which has many health benefits.
His values are centred on treating the bees with respect and making honey that has identified him with a quality product. Marcus knows all too well the vagaries of nature so it’s quite a feat of nature that seemingly against all the odds the bees, with a little help from Marcus, are still able to deliver this truly miracle product.

The Brief
The first question we asked was ‘What makes the Yorkshire Honey proposition special?’ Provenance and traceability, knowledge of exactly where and how the honey is produced: Reputation, Marcus uses only sustainable methods to produce his honey.

Our response
Using this we were able to develop a positioning for the brand reflected in the line ‘As Nature Intended’. Recognition that the brand is a living, breathing thing; a combination of the logo, the packaging and the website was important; The first opportunity to showcase this was on the jar, where the look and feel would be true to its personality, reflecting its Yorkshire provenance; fresh and confident with the ability to stand out on the shelf.
Yorkshire Honey was voted best food of the year at the Yorkshire Food & Drinks Awards and continues to flourish.
